WELCOME TO OUR COVEN: A SHORT STORY BY DAVID FARREN

note:
The
inspiration for this story comes from an incident at the old Sorcerer's
Shop in West Hollywood, where for a few years I taught advanced classes
in Wicca for my friends Babetta and Dennis.
Dennis
once told me about a young man who was especially eager to witness an
authentic ritual conducted in the temple at the rear of the shop.
Ordinarily Dennis would have insisted that he take a class first, but
this time he allowed an exception. His guest came to the temple
at the designated time and waited with a number of others for Dennis
and a few of the robed initiates to come in from the side.
However, when they did, all hooded and carrying their athames (ritual
knives), he became very agitated and had to be led outside in a
complete state of panic.
The
moral of the story was that it might not always be such a good idea to
be an occultist wannabe.
